Fancy Boots

I’ve noticed both Seinfeld and shoes are held in high regard on Gone Fashion’, so what better to blog about than shoes seen on Seinfeld? Sounds like a winning duo to me.  This Laundromat* scene comes from “The Seinfeld Chronicles” (Pilot episode), where Jerry and George are discussing whether one can “over dry” clothes.  The shoes in question are not worn by a main character, rather an extra whom George asks for confirmation that you can indeed over dry clothes:IMG_0003

A closer look:

I’m a big fan of these boots and wish I could get a pair myself! However, I don’t think I could get behind her all blue ensemble…

Speaking of boots, check out these beautiful Stetsons I came across in Pinedale, WY last month:

And if you’re feeling a bit more festive:

*Today I learned that Laundromat is technically a proper noun.

Surprisingly Vintage Red Wing Boots Hold Their Value / Clarks You Are Over Rated and Hurt My Feet

I m not sure how everyone feels about this but I ve been buying used shoes off of ebay for about 4 years now. Weird? Maybe a little. Cheap? Usually.
But who would of thought that old Red Wing boots would be this expensive?
Would you look at these prices! Upwards of $50!
Is anyone surprised by this?
Call me frugal but anything over $50 is too much for a used pair of boots.

I ve been wearing Clark's Desert Boots for one year now and I've noticed two things about them
1- People love to stop me and comment on how comfortable they are- "Hey, I wore those in the 70's and they are really comfortable." "Oh you're wearing Desert Boots, I love them so"
2- How much they hurt my feet.

I ve come to the conclusion that these shoes are the modern day emperor's clothes. People have been convincing each other since the 40's that these shoes that hurt my arches and make my feet sweat are comfortable.

Enough is enough people. Let's all admit to ourselves that Clark's suck dick.

Vibram FiveFingers: Barefoot Running Shoes Selling Out Fast

If you want to run barefoot, you have two options. You can either run without wearing shoes, or you can wear a pair of Vibram FiveFingers barefoot runningshoes.
For many runners, they only have the first choice. Vibram FiveFingers shoes are increasingly hard to get. Vibram created these barefoot running shoes a few years ago, but now that they have become so popular, Vibram is having a hard time keeping up with the demand.
CNN reports that Vibram is a 75-year old Italian company, that is best known for making soles for high end boots. But 6 years ago, Robert Fliri approached the company with a shoe that could hardly be called a shoe. It is better described as a foot glove.
Vibram FiveFingers shoes give you the feeling of running barefoot, but protect your feet from dirt and abrasions. The shoes were brought to the market in 2006. Times Magazine named the barefoot running shoes one of the best health inventions of 2007. And last year, Christopher McDougall’s book ‘Born to Run’ praised Vibram’s new shoes, as well as the benefits of barefoot running.
This year, a study by Harvard gave even more praise to the benefits of barefoot running, which made Vibram FiveFingers barefoot shoes an even bigger hit.
The Guardian reports that shoe runners tend to land on the heel of their foot, where barefoot runners tend to land on the ball of their foot. Over time, constant pressure on the heel can cause injuries, like ankle sprains, Achilles tendinitis, shin splints and even back problems.
The shoes cost around $75 to $125. Vibram is expanding its operations to try and meet demands.
But for the time being, if you see a pair of these shoes, buy them while you have the chance…or just go running barefoot.
